As a writer about the wedding industry, who also has friends who are wedding planners, I must say that brides should look at wedding magazines and blogs as inspiration and not “the Bible”. Its frustrating to hear that brides will print out the pages and say to a planner “I want THIS”. Well, some blogs ‘weddings’ are styled and can cost your entire budget per place-setting. They don’t tell you that. I saw one beautiful ‘little outdoor wedding’ on a blog; it cost $120,000 for the set-up. It can lead to maximum disappointment when a bride realizes that her ‘dream’ can’t be realized = frustration. In my humble opinion…you’ve been taking care of yourself for what 25+years already…you’ve made up your mind about what you’re going to wear today, how to decorate for many parties so why must you live/die by what someone else says? If you, not your parents, can afford it – GREAT…most can’t. Also, not everyone that has a ‘popular blog’ or tweets the most/loudest/with the most ‘!!!!!’ is an expert – no matter how much they may think they are.
In the end realize (and I LOVE weddings!!) this is a big party for your family/friends. The REAL WORK happens the day after the “I do”.

All the gorgeous cakes on display were created by the very talented students and alumni of Bonnie Gordon School located in mid-town Toronto. Bonnie has a long history of creating cakes for Wedding Bells magazine and this year we were approached by the magazine to create something extra special for their 25th! Sadly we were unable to serve cake at the hotel but it was still a very sweet evening!
